Service Description

I believe that when you better understand the workings of your body, the physical practice of yoga asana can take on a deeper meaning. Since I was a child I have been fascinated by the way the human body looks, works and transmits force and energy. As a former dancer, I have always had a passion for shapes, movement and the amazing ability of the human body to channel energy, emotion and effect through conscious, dynamic action. Being a yoga teacher has given me the unique opportunity to share with you what I’ve learned about the way your body can take you on a literal journey of a lifetime. SO join me in this journey and we can learn together! In this workshop, we will: :: Consider the “anatomical model”, learn some helpful terminology and gain some practical exploration of how different anatomical movement expresses itself in your unique body. :: Study some of the basic postures of the yoga asana repertoire in detail and gain deeper understanding of what anatomical mechanisms are at work in each (and how these same mechanisms transfer across groups of postures). :: Understand how the physical practice lends itself to furthering the spiritual journey through the awareness of movement, sensuality and connection. This workshop is for you if you're an experienced yoga practitioner wanting to further understand the way yoga asanas work - or a yoga teacher wanting to gain more confidence in bringing this understanding to your students. By its nature, this is just a tiny introduction to a huge subject which would take a lifetime to fully understand and integrate. But I hope you will take away some expanded knowledge of the hows and whys of yoga asana and how this knowledge can enrich your practice in unlimited ways!
